Made of pottery clay, terracotta vessels can be used for slow cooking, stewing, baking and broiling because of its extraordinary properties of retaining warmth, moisture, and nutrients well.
Please note, unglazed terracotta will soak in fats and oils causing it to stain. This is a design feature that improves the non-stick performance of the baker over time.
